People always search for that perfect gift. But what’s the best gift you can give?

Some people want electronics, clothes, furniture, gift cards, money, or a car. But these are earthly gifts. I’m not saying they aren’t important, but you can’t take them with you when you die.

But others want to spend time with friends and family. These are the gifts that matter.

Have you heard about the birth of Jesus?

Luke 1:26-38 tells this story:

In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.”

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Sharing the story of Jesus’ birth will make a splendid gift this year, whether for Christmas or any other time.

When we die, the only thing that will matter is where we spend eternity. You will spend eternity in heaven or hell. The choice is up to you.

Grace is the only way to heaven, and this is the best gift.

Jesus died on the cross to forgive everyone for their sins, and they will go to heaven when they accept His grace by making Him the Lord and Savior of their life. Then they will live to please the Father by loving him and loving others as He commands in the Bible. This will become their greatest desire as they grow as Christians.

God’s grace is an unearned, undeserved, and unconditional gift that is infinite. Jesus loves us regardless of what we do or don’t do, and He has no limitations on this gift. God does not limit offering grace to anyone, but you still have to choose to receive this gift.

All you have to do is accept the best gift that God offers to everyone.

Then you will spend eternity in heaven, where God has prepared a place just for you.

But there is a deadline. We only have until our last breath to accept Jesus’ generous gift of eternal life.

A SINNER’S PRAYER:

Dear Jesus, I believe in You. I believe You are the Son of God, that You died for my sins, and that You were buried and rose again as written in the Bible. Please come into my heart so I can have eternal life. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and help me to live the way You want me to live. Forgive me for my past sins. Guide me in my future, so I can live my life for You. Amen.

Here are a few tips if you accepted Jesus into your heart and want to know Him more.

1. Study your Bible because God inspired it and speaks to you through it.

2. Spend time praying and worshipping Him, so it’s easier to hear what He has to say.

3. Trust and obey by having faith to follow where He leads. Pay attention to what God does in you and others.

4. Look for Jesus in everything because He’s there.

5. Get rid of idols as soon as you see them in your life.

Won’t you share the best gift you can give with everyone you meet?
