Do you have peace in the middle of chaos?
Your circumstances will never be perfect, and most of the time, you will not find peace in the middle of chaos, which is sometimes called life. But, when you have peace, you have joy, and joy doesn’t depend on our circumstances. It depends on our trust in God, and the more we know Him, the more we will trust Him. I can’t think of a better example of someone who found peace in the middle of chaos than the Apostle Paul.
Paul was unjustly in prison in Rome, chained to a guard, and he could be executed at any minute; yet he tells us that he had joy. God wants you to have this peace too.
Phil 4:4-7 says, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
God doesn’t want anything to steal your joy. He wants to give you peace that lasts your entire life. It is a sustaining peace. It doesn’t mean it won’t come and go.
When you lose your peace, you will need to ask God to give you this joy again. A lot of times, you lose your peace because you have anxiety. It’s alright to care about something, but it is not okay to stress about it. This happens when you take your eyes off God.
How do you know if you are the cause of your anxiety?
1 Are you more concerned about what you want than what God wants for you?
Are you trying to change a situation to how you feel it should be, or are you praying and asking God His will?
God knows what is best for you since He can see the entire picture. However, we only know what is going on at any given moment. Since God knows the future, He knows what the best choice for your situation is. So you should trust Him to guide you instead of relying on your limited viewpoint to make a wise decision.
2 Do you rush into things instead of seeking God’s direction?
When you rush, you cause chaos, and it’s hard to find peace in chaos. Jesus had perfect peace because He always followed God’s direction. When Jesus was a man, He spoke with his Father every morning by going to a quiet place to pray. The same is true for you, but make sure you are away from all distractions.
3 Do you get anxious when you have a problem?
You need to view the situation from God’s perspective. Pray and ask Him what He is trying to work out in your life. Or maybe He is trying to teach you something. Ask Him what He wants to open your eyes to and surrender your vision to Him.
God wants everyone to have peace. He wants you to have rest in your life, free from stress. This does not mean that you won’t have problems. It means that He will be with you during your trials and hardships, giving you the sense of tranquility that you require.
If you want to find peace in the chaos, the first step to receiving it is to ask Jesus to become your Lord and Savior.
It is a free gift. It is a life-changing gift. If you want this gift, pray this prayer:
A Sinner’s Prayer: Dear Jesus, I believe in you. I believe you are the Son of God, that you died for my sins, and that you were buried and rose again as written in the Bible. Please come into my heart so I can have eternal life. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and help me to live the way you want me to live. Forgive me for my past sins. Guide me in my future so that I can live my life for you. Amen.
When you make Jesus the center of your life, you have joy. But the choice is yours whether you accept this peace.
This was such a lovely devotional and reminder on how to find peace in chaos. I do believe in the power of prayer, faith, and trust.
The power of prayer is like nothing else. God’s the first one I seek when chaos erupts.
I find peace while meditating. Escaping the chaos of the mind always is welcomed!
God comforted me so much when I did meditation. Thanks for the reminder. I haven’t done it in years. I did it regularly after my son was murdered, which got me through rough times. I should start again.
Finding peace when there is chaos in your life can be a challenge. Prayer and meditation help me get there.
I remember to pray, but I forget to meditate. However, I will try again, as I felt my best during the months I meditated.
I truly don’t have chaos in my life. I’ve learned to trust my walk with God. I surrender to the flow. My life is a joy filled one.
I love that. I’m glad your life is joy-filled.
My selfish desires always seem to be the issue whenever anxiety creeps in. Once I accept I am not in charge, everything becomes so much easier to bear… because I’m not the one bearing it anymore!
Well said. Always remember, we are not in charge.
I’ve been working on gratitude for the past few years, and that has helped me a lot. When it comes to chaos, I’m also working on “leaving it alone” for when I’ve done my best and there’s nothing left to do. Of course, that works for the smaller things in life. Sometimes you have spend time in the big things and work through it. Easier said than done.
I’ve always found that surrendering my problems, big or small, to God is the best solution.
Yes, I seek god when life is hard! Pray and fasting help.
I always forget about fasting. Thanks for reminding me.
I wouldn’t say that I have chaos in my life. I like to think of it as trials but not chaos. Christ is my Savior and it is through Him that I find peace and comfort and guidance. My trials are hard and they test every ounce of my strength everyday, but I do not have chaos because I know the path that He has me on.
I’m so glad you find peace and comfort in Christ. God bless.
Chaos in one’s life at the time is quite challenging. We seek out God and prayer when our lives our in turmoil.
Seeking God is always best. Unfortunately, sometimes I forget to do this when something overwhelms me. But I’m doing a lot better lately.
