Here’s an interesting story about God laughing and teaching us a lesson about having faith.
Since 2017 I’ve had bottomless faith after someone murdered my son, and I have faith God can do anything.
The other night we were sitting at church before the service. It had been six months since I sold my book, Gone in an Instant: Losing My Son, Loving His Killer, when someone had asked me if they could have a book and pay me the following week. So, of course, I said yes. But at this point, six months later, I still had not received the money for the book.
Looking at Mike, I said, “It sure would be nice if so and so gave me the money they owe me.” I wasn’t upset with the person for not paying me. It just popped into my mind that they forgot about it. I’m using the money to help publish my next book. I knew they had the money, and I had no doubt they’d eventually pay me, but I didn’t want to ask for it, and I haven’t in six months.
Do you have faith God can do anything?
Mike laughed, “You’re never going to see that money.”
Instantly, said person walked up to me. They asked, “If I give you $20 for your book, do you have change?”
“Of course I do. I always carry change and books with me wherever I go.”
After they left, I looked at Mike and laughed long and hard. “So Mike, I guess God showed you.”
“He sure did!” Mike replied.
I told Mike, “I can see God up there laughing as He thought, ‘I’m going to teach Mike to have faith like his wife.’” At least Mike didn’t have to lose his son to acquire the faith I almost always have.
What Bible verse teaches you God can do anything?
We all need to remember Matthew 17:20. “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
I loved this story. I love the way that God speaks to us in the most surprising and yet significant ways. His timing is always perfect, and we only have to reach out and he touches us in unique and meaningful ways. Thank you for another inspirational blog, Tammy.
I’m always amazed by God’s timing. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Liza.
