Do you have confident faith in Christ?
If you struggle to have confident faith in Christ, here are 6 ways to gain this faith through prayer as described in Ephesians 3:14-17a: “For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.”
1 Ask yourself why you are praying.
Asking why you are praying helps so that you don’t always pray the same things to God. He doesn’t want to hear us rattle on about things we don’t even think about because we are so used to saying them. Instead, He wants us to come before Him with our immediate requests.
2 Pray specific prayers.
He wants you to share your most intimate details so He can give strength and advice. Yes, He already knows them, but He wants you to tell Him anyway. Conversing with God is the same as having a conversation with a person in the room with you.
When you pray, God will answer your prayers through reading the Bible, or maybe He will speak to you through a friend.
3 Praying on your knees will help you gain faith.
Prayer is powerful. When you humble yourself before the Lord by praying on your knees, it shows God that you respect Him. It shows God He is important to you.
4 Is there anything God can’t do?
Whatever request you make to God, He is capable of answering your request when it lines up with His will for your life. He wants what’s best for you. He releases power in us through the Holy Spirit. When you become a Christian, the Holy Spirit moves into you, and He acts as your conscience by guiding you.
When you feel you can’t do something, pray through the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to show you how you can do what you are trying to do. If it’s part of God’s will for you, He will give you the strength to do it.
5 Pray with a focus on God.
God should be the center of our lives. We need to want what He wants for us. He knows what’s best for us. Better than we ever will.
6 The focus of prayer is not the need we have.
The focus of prayer is who God is. If you want to have confident faith in Christ, you need to focus on who God is. God is all-powerful, and He wants to share that power with you. So don’t focus on what you can’t do, focus on what God can do through the Holy Spirit in you.
Just as you know the sun will rise and set every day, so should your faith be in what our amazing God can do through you if you will let Him.
