I want to share this fantastic message written by my Christian friend and author, Liza Grantham.
The radiance of God’s glory
Isn’t it great that the winter months are finally behind us? Isn’t it wonderful to feel the warmth of the sun on your face? There is something so uplifting about seeing the sun shining in a cloudless blue sky. Whether walking through a meadow abundant with wildflowers or lying on a beach listening to the waves lapping the shore, it’s not really surprising that some of our happiest memories are made on sunny days.
The sensation of warmth comforts us and the light lifts our mood, making us feel a whole lot brighter whatever challenges or problems come our way. God’s love bathes us just like the sunshine and He has shown us this through the gift of his son, Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 1:3 says, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.” As Christians, we are sustained by his warmth and comfort. His light shines on us and we can feel Him working in our lives.
When the sun doesn’t shine
Even in the summertime, the sun doesn’t always shine. There are days when we draw back the curtains and look out onto a sky full of clouds. Sometimes it may rain for days or even weeks on end, making us feel as dark and dismal as that sky, yet we know that the sun is still there behind the grey clouds and we never doubt for a moment that it will appear again.
There may be times in our lives when it feels as if God isn’t with us.
During our darkest days, through our toughest problems and challenges, we may be unable to see the light. But just because God’s presence isn’t obvious, it doesn’t mean that He has deserted us—just as the sun hides behind the clouds, God’s love for us is always there. When He steps back for a while, He may be forcing us to look deep inside ourselves to: consider our actions, guide us toward different choices, or strengthen us in faith.
Romans 5:1-4 delivers the message that God’s glory shines for us even through our suffering.
“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
God’s glory awaits us
This Eastertide, Christians all over the world will celebrate God’s gift of grace through his son Jesus who died on the cross so that our sins will be forgiven. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we have God’s promise that He will never forsake us and will grant us everlasting life.
In John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Let us thank God this Easter, whatever the weather, because the light of Jesus shines on us even through the darkest of skies.
Thank you, Liza, for sharing your deepest thoughts with us.
There is a deadline if you want to share in Jesus’ light. We only have until our last breath to accept Jesus’ generous gift of eternal life offered through grace.
A SINNER’S PRAYER:
Dear Jesus, I believe in you. I believe you are the Son of God, that you died for my sins, and that you were buried and rose again as written in the Bible. Please come into my heart so I can have eternal life. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and help me to live the way you want me to live. Forgive me for my past sins. Guide me in my future so that I can live my life for You. Amen.
Liza is a fabulous writer and poet and shares her bestselling high-ranking books about her move to Spain. They are chalked full of exciting animal stories, and her husband is a hoot. I love all four of the Mad Cow in Galicia series. I highly recommend them. Here’s the link.
