There were so many ways people could see God at the Ark Encounter.
I did see God at the Ark Encounter primarily through the colossal ark size. The builders built a full-size Noah’s ark in Williamstown, KY; I must say, I never expected it to be so massive at over seven stories high and 510 feet long. I’m glad I captured several pictures of the entire ark on my iPhone camera because it has been my dream to see it for a few years now. We finally made the seven-hour drive, and I have no regrets.
Purchasing tickets and parking advice.
We bought our tickets online at https://arkencounter.com/tickets/ and printed them before hitting the road. We left our house a little after midnight to arrive at the park before 9 a.m. when the park opened where we paid $15 to park our car. I was happy to see that only two rows of the vast parking lot were full. That was another way I could see God at the Ark Encounter because the lines were already long and would’ve been longer had we arrived later in the day, but that didn’t happen because there wasn’t any traffic on our Saturday drive. Whew.
We received a Map and Guide when they put on our wristbands for entrance to the park.
We perused the map while we rode the bus to the park entrance. You could rent strollers and wheelchairs if needed since the ark has four levels total; a ground level and three decks. There were restrooms on each floor and ramps to each deck. They take your picture when you enter so you can purchase one as a souvenir on your way out.
The animals were outside the ark at the Ararat Ridge Zoo, but there were cages with sculpted animals and sounds throughout the ark, so it felt like they were all around you. My favorite was the dinosaur area, where they had replicas of dinosaurs in cages.
More ways you can see God at the Ark Encounter.
There were speakers and films to educate you about the many questions we had. Some facts are that 3.3 million feet of timber were used, making the ark the largest timber-frame structure in the world. If this wasn’t seeing God, I don’t know what is. Wide varieties of wood were used, including bamboo, while Noah’s ark was made of gopher wood. Noah had 1,398 different kinds of animals and 6,744 animals in total, and only eight people on board the ark while the rest of the world was destroyed by the flood.
Genesis 7:23 says, “Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.”
What are some of the sections of the ark that I liked?
I loved the section “Can we trust the Bible?”
It explains how the Bible was inspired by God and without error. There were forty different writers, and it was written over a span of 1,500 years. Therefore, the Bible has continuously been handed down from generation to generation, and many prophecies have been fulfilled, with many more predicted. The final part of this section is the Key to Eternal Life, which is the most crucial message in the entire Bible.
Another favorite section is “In the Beginning God Created.”
Here you are shown what happened in creation on each of the seven days the earth was formed. I include the seventh day, although, on this day, God rested.

Ararat Ridge Zoo and Noah’s Village.
After stopping at the gift store and leaving the life-size ark of Biblical proportions, we stopped at the Ararat Ridge Zoo, where we encountered kangaroos, lemurs, ostriches, cranes, and emus. I wanted to pet a kangaroo, but you weren’t allowed to leave the designated pathways, and there weren’t any close enough to pet. So there went my lifelong dream. Maybe someday it’ll happen.
They also offered camel rides which are another one of my dreams. But when I inquired about it, they said they were currently only offered to children. Agh. Maybe someday. I know my dreams are big, but I’m an optimist.
After we finished in the zoo, we stopped for a meal at Noah’s Village, where they offered pizza, burgers, hot dogs, and more. We only spent three hours touring everything, but we could’ve easily spent the whole day there or added some extra activities. We skipped the concerts, Sensational Snake Encounters, Dinosaur Detectives in the Rainbow Garden, and Ice Age Giants.
You could also upgrade your adventure.
For more money, you could add on a visit to the Creation Museum, which includes tours of exhibits, gardens, a planetarium, and a zip line adventure course. The museum is a forty-five-minute drive from the ark.
To hear and see the inside of the ark and see a little of God’s mind, here’s another video of The Voyage of a Book. Be sure to follow me on YouTube.
We had the most amazing time at the Ark Encounter as well! The exhibits, videos, and zoo all seem to give lots of opportunities to see God around you. The Ark Encounter is definitely a must-see!
I can’t believe I waited so long to see it. I’m really glad I did.
I think I’d really enjoy seeing the Ark Encounter. I can’t get over how massive it is. The bottoms of ships have always intimidated me for that exact reason actually haha. But still very impressive. I would also love to see some of the exhibits, especially the Dinosaurs. Crazy to think they used to live here too.
I loved seeing the creations they made of the different dinosaurs. I’m also glad I made a few YouTube videos to remember my whole experience.
This is such a cool display and reality check of the vastness of the ark! GOD IS SO GOOD! Thank you for sharing!
God is good. All the time. Our pastor always says that.
The ark encounter is a new one to me! Looks like an amazing visit.
I keep hearing how amazing the Ark Encounter is! I would love to take my kids here and share this experience with them.
It must be cool to see in person the size of the ark. The Ark Encounter sounds amazing.
The size of the ark is just incredible! We can read about it but seeing it would be amazing.
Wow, the ark at the Ark Encounter is huge! It looks like there are some interesting exhibits. The animals are cute, too!
This is so cool to see God’s work at the Ark Encounter. What a massive ship at 7 stories high. And love that they offer add-ones for special experiences.
I enjoyed hearing about how they explained how the animals were taken care during their time on the ark. The Ark Encounter had a lot more to it than I thought, I was super impressed!
Is this an exhibit that travels? or does it stay in one location? It really looks cool!
It stays in one location. It’s way too big to move. If you’re ever in the area, make sure you plan a trip to check it out. We drove 7 hours just to see it. I have no regrets.
Wow. Reading about the Ark is one thing. Seeing the Ark Encounter is totally something else. It’s huge!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Ark Encounter. We have only been to the parking lot; we are from that area and will have to plan on going when we return home for a visit.
I can’t believe I put off visiting it for so long. Glad I finally did. I hope you make it soon. God bless.
